Gel manicures are one of our most popular services at Beauty Essentials — clients love the chip-free, glossy finish that lasts far longer than regular polish. Here's how to make the most of your gel mani.
How Long Do Gel Manicures Last?
A professional gel manicure from Beauty Essentials lasts 10–14 days. Some clients with slower nail growth can push to 3 weeks, but by that point, visible regrowth at the base becomes noticeable.
Daily Maintenance Tips
Moisturize constantly. Gel curing lights can dehydrate the nail bed and surrounding skin. Apply cuticle oil — jojoba or almond-based — twice daily, morning and night. Push it into the cuticle and rub it into the skin around the nail.
Wear gloves for cleaning. Household cleaning products, dish soap, and bleach break down gel polish over time. A pair of rubber gloves during chores extends your manicure's lifespan significantly.
Avoid picking. Peeling or picking at gel polish doesn't just ruin your manicure — it lifts layers of your natural nail with it, causing thinning and white spots. If a nail chips or lifts at the edge, file it smooth and visit the salon for a repair.
Never Peel Off Gel at Home
This is the most damaging thing you can do to your nails. Gel bonds to the nail surface and peeling it off removes the top layers of your natural nail — leaving nails thin, weak, and prone to breaking.
Always have gel removed professionally using the proper acetone-soak method.
Between Appointments
Keep nails filed to your preferred shape — filing slightly underneath the free edge prevents snagging and breaks. For touch-ups between visits, a thin layer of clear top coat can refresh shine.
When to Book Your Next Appointment
Come back to Beauty Essentials at the 2-week mark for a soak-off and fresh application. This gives your nails a brief moment to breathe and allows us to assess nail health before the next set.
